MEDICATION MANAGEMENT

There are two ways to treat behavioral health issues: medications and/or therapy. Some issues respond better to medications such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Mood Disorder, and Attention-Deficit Disorder. Other concerns are better treated with a combination of therapy and medications such as Major Depressive Disorderanxiety disorders, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. And a few are best treated with therapy only such as mild to moderate depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, and temporary setbacks caused by life events.

 

Your brain uses proteins called neurotransmitters to send signals and instructions between its different parts. Medications are designed to act as neurotransmitters to help your brain function properly. THERAPY

Since the 1880s, therapy has developed as a field that is as eclectic and unique as the populations that the field serves. There are now more than 400 varieties of psychological counseling approaches, including models, formats, length of session, and frequency of sessions. Examples of different types of counseling include the cognitive and systemic models of therapy, individual and group therapy sessions, and varying lengths of therapy sessions in terms of intensity and frequency.  Our approach is integrative of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and trauma-centered, where we focus on the humanity of the individual.
